I am an experienced educator with over thirty years of experience and have extensive management and leadership skills in a wide range of state and international educational settings. After retiring from Education Queensland, I established my own educational consultancy leveraging my extensive experience in executive school roles and I now work as an independent consultant as a mentor, coach and External School Reviewer supporting schools to reflect, refine and improve.

I worked for Education Queensland for the majority of my career as a teacher, Deputy Principal, teaching Principal, Principal of a School of Distance Education, and as Principal of several low socio-economic large complex schools.

At my last school, I had the privilege of opening a brand-new school– creating everything from the ground up. This involved community engagement, knowing your community, creating the culture, branding the school, designing uniforms and motto, Recruitment and selection of staff is vital for a successful school and how to engage them in the vision. Design and implementation of curriculum through to setting the scene and Day 1 is an essential component to enable successful students and high learning outcomes. As the school is successful, it is an ongoing task to nurture the school culture to keep pace with growth to ensure the school has a reputation known for its student support, high expectations and standards and is a sought-after school by parents and community.

I also spent four years at Phorms International Bilingual School in Munich as Head of Primary and was very involved in the international school community. The school was a blend of the Bavarian and Cambridge primary curriculums, and students sat IB Diploma and German Abitur exams. I led the school through the initial stages of CIS accreditation. Through this work, I gained a deep respect and knowledge of international attitudes, the awareness and international mindset required in a high performing international school. I also taught in the United States for a year.

Before retiring I was an active Peer Reviewer in Queensland. Since establishing my consultancy, I have worked alongside several Australian jurisdictions to regularly conduct reviews as an External School Reviewer. I have ACER accreditation as an External Reviewer. I bring a balanced, practical approach to school review, combining professional rigour with a strong understanding of the realities of school life to help leaders and staff move forward with clarity and confidence.

With my extensive experience, I understand the realities of school life from the inside and have led schools through change, accountability cycles, improvement planning and community engagement, and I bring this practical knowledge into all my work. My focus is always on combining professional rigour with practical, school-based realities to help leaders and teams move forward with clarity and confidence.
