Education Coach & Mentor
“Having authority may give you a title, but it’s trust that makes you a leader.” Simon Sinek
Working with aspirants, beginning and established leaders from middle management to Principals to maximise their capacity, potential and performance to have a positive impact on their school and students.
It is not the role of a mentor or coach to provide the answers and solve issues, but rather deliver the questions and conversations so that together the best strategy and solutions can be found.
My goal is to support, challenge and empower individuals or teams through quality interaction, supportive reflection and professional conversation. Participants have the opportunity to grow their skills by:
- Working through actual scenarios to build professional capabilities;
- Genuine discussion to raise self-awareness around real situations;
- Awareness of the implications of our own behaviour and language;
- Providing responsive and flexible support for individual contexts;
- Learning and implementing new skills and ideas
Professional Companioning
“Leadership is not about titles or the corner office. It’s about willingness to step up, put yourself out there, and lean into courage. The world is desperate for braver leaders. It’s time for all of us to step up.” Brene Brown
There are many factors that contribute to a successful and high performing school – the main element is a Principal that is an effective leader, has a vision and has the skills to implement and embed it. A Principal’s role is complex and as the main decision maker you are often faced with issues or situations that can become overwhelming. You are the face of the school, and you are where the buck stops.
Stepping into a new role can be daunting and it can take time to settle into the role. Companioning can assist new Principals to focus on school improvement and learning outcomes, rather than the daily demands of administrivia.
Principal Companioning is a holistic means of supporting and walking beside a leader to assist with strategies, ideas, and opportunities to reflect that will help them to lead schools for student and teacher success. It uses elements of being a critical friend, mentor, coach and consultant.
